If you are concerned about heat, then a Gypsy Mama gauze wrap may be the best for you. These wraps can be used for all of the back carries. You will need to take a bit more time to spread the fabric. If you are looking for primarily a back (or front)carrier and your baby is older than 4 months, you should consider a Mei Tai. It does take some practice to safely carry your baby on your back with a wrap, but If I could have only one carrier to last from Newborn to Pre-school - it would be a wrap for the comfort and versatility.
If you're not sure that wrapping is for you and you have a newborn, try the Moby Wrap. This is a stretchy wrap and will not give as much support as these woven wraps, but at only $40, you can't loose. It is a fantastic starter wrap, easy to learn, and wonderfully cuddly for newborns. In fact, many of our customers suggest getting a Moby in addition to other carriers so that you have one to wear and one to wash. The price can't be beat.
If you don't have the patience to learn how to wrap one very long piece of fabric, then try a Pouch, Ring Sling, or A Mei Tai.
